Grade 5 Homeroom Teacher
Brian Carey is one of our fifth grade teachers who also teaches a fourth grade Reading class. He received his B.A. from Villanova University, his M.B.A from the University of Connecticut and worked for more than twenty years in both corporate marketing and supply chain areas before he felt the calling to teach. He entered the education field in 2007 after receiving his M.A. in Teaching from Sacred Heart University.
Mr. Carey taught grades 3 through 6 for eight years in the Bridgeport Diocese. He is a long-time resident of Bridgeport and lives in the Lake Forest area with his wife and son. He enjoys boating in the summer and is an enthusiastic skier (and former ski instructor) come winter time (he does admit, however, that he taught his son too well and now can’t keep up with him on the slopes!). He has also been a leader in a number of youth organizations over the years (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, YMCA…) which is what led him into teaching. Mr. Carey hopes “to teach his students how to make practical use of the skills they gain at St. Mary School and how to take the lessons of this community with them through life.“
