Joan Calendrillo

Preschool Director

Mrs. Calendrillo says, “I feel blessed to teach our youngest students about Jesus and watching them grow in faith. Our environment here at St Mary’s allows each child to shine and be the very best they can be.”

Mrs. Calendrillo has been with our school’s preschool program since 1988 when, under the leadership of Sister Jane McGurkin, RSM, the Principal at the time, she began St. Mary School's Preschool Program. Under her leadership, the preschool program at St. Mary’s grew from just a three day, half day program for four year old's, to the very successful program we have today serving over 85 students.

Mrs. Calendrillo became the Preschool Director in June of 2007 as the preschool expanded to offer a Full Day Class for Four year olds while maintaining our other programs.

She is also a part of the St Mary’s Parish Twinning committee and has traveled to our sister parish of St Therese in Marbial Haiti three times. She shares with all the children of St Mary School knowledge and love of the people of Marbial. Through our service projects and activities she tries to help the children to live out our mission statement of service to others. Shealso serves on the Visiting Committee of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges. This involvement helps her to professionally investigate the programs of other private schools and broaden her personal knowledge.

She has been an active parishioner of St Agnes Parish since 1983. In her spare time,  she enjoys the company of family and friends. Book clubs, travel and museums fill her summers and time with her five grandchildren is priceless.

We knew the time would eventually come, but didn't realize how sentimental it would make us feel!  Yes, it’s true, our beloved Joan Calendrillo will be retiring at the end of this school year.

We wish Mrs. Calendrillo a peaceful and well deserved retirement, not to mention our unending gratitude and appreciation for all her years of dedication and commitment to our Mission and our children.
